One Sunday in L.A. (a.k.a. funday with a Leica!)
I stole borrowed a cool little Leica 18151 D-Lux 5 Digital Camera from my friend. Such a cute and stylish camera, and saves me from lugging around a larger and heavier SLR.
I’ve heard many great things about Leica’s, and they seem to be the hipster blogger’s friend, so I excitedly tested it out.
Plus, it gives me an opportunity to document one Sunday in Los Angeles, from dawn to dusk. Bear with me, as it took me half the day to figure out how to change the shutter speed and aperture. Then another few hours to learn to change ISO settings, when I was forced to because the sun set.
Check it – playtime with a Leica!
Drive to start of the Nichol’s ride.
(I will spare you that pic….I look far too sleepy to allow it to be published.)
Driving through L.A. after the ride.
My waterproof mascara doesn’t cooperate with traditional eye makeup remover, but apparently it will smudge nice and raccoon-y with sweat.
At least the “Soft Skin” effect works well!

Rolling through Westwood

Waiting at Taco Plus for post ride grub!

Menudo is so delicious! But….

…that same bowl of delicious menudo looks like absolute disgustingness in black and white. “Really? You’re going to eat that? Put that in your mouth and chew on it??….”

Back home, chillin’ in my newly-rearranged office nook. Wind and rain may be bad for us soft So Cal cyclists, but the clear air and crisp sunshine make for really beautiful colors.

Set up a crystal healing session

New kitty in the house! Whatcha lookin’ at, kitty? Yes, that guy can descend very well… (but Cynthia is still working on the correct settings for close-up focus)

Why do my legs feel so horrible?? Here’s wishing that foam rollering works.

Fake-napping. I didn’t have enough time for a real nap, but I did pose-it-up for the camera while testing “Soft Skin” mode.

Lounging on couch with kitty.

On the road to a meditation class in Venice Beach! Here, the view out the sunroof in Redondo Beach’s Riviera.

Clear gorgeous day! Down Catalina Ave. in Redondo Beach.

Passing Loyola Marymount college in Playa del Rey…

Up Lincoln Blvd. You haven’t experienced Los Angeles until you’ve enjoyed the traffic.

Baby’s Badass Burgers on Abbott Kinney!!! ![]()
And a Dim Sum truck to the right.

Very Venice Beach…

Abbott Kinney Pizza – delicious pizza by the slice. This place reminds me of all the pizza I ate in college at Berkeley.

Iconically L.A.

Sound-healing meditation at Studio Surya Yoga in Venice Beach.

Check your baggage at the door!

Hanging with my friend and fellow designer Nora! Check out her work at www.bynora.com

Why hello there…

After relaxing, rejuvenating meditation, I headed to Venice Beach Wines for a different kind of relaxation…
Stay tuned for “Start Your Damn Businesss Already!” interview with Oscar Hermosillo, owner Venice Beach Wines.

This pic taken in “Candlelight” mode, and should really be used with a tripod else this lovely “Drunk by Candlelight” effect.

Nighttime inside Venice Beach Wines.
Manual setting, with high ISO and shorter exposure than “Candlelight” preset.

The food is excellent at Venice Beach Wines. We tasted fish tacos made from Oscar’s mom’s recipe.
We left Venice Beach Wines at 6:30ish to meet friends and family at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in Long Beach.

Mr. Obama himself was here two weeks ago. Go get those votes, Mr. President!
We were starving by then, so I forgot to take pics of my actual food. Here, testing out the closeup settings and “Warming” filter on my leftovers.

It was a full day of fun and activities on this November Sunday! By night time only kitty was active and alert.

And thus concludes our tour of the Southbay on Sunday with a Leica!
